American writer Louisa May Alcott was the most successful author of her day, penning such beloved classics as Little Women, Little Men, and Jo's Boys. Regrettably, two of her lesser-known works fell out of print in this century. There is no surviving copy of Alcott's first novel, Don't Get Your Pantaloons in a Bunch! However, in 1997 an original manuscript of Alcott's exuberant second novel, Little 'Hos was unearthed at a garage sale in Fort Lynn, New Jersey. Its crap, really, but the tale of 19th century teenage prostitutes is coming soon to a theater near you starring feisty Winona Rider, luminous Claire Danes, and the irrepressible Merwin Leroy as "Marmie the Pimp."
