I’m Running To…

HOLD THE LINE ON TAXES

Lexington faces a major challenge in that so much
(over 70% and rising!) of our town’s real property value
is exempt from taxation. Instead of increasing our property
and sales tax rates — which makes us a less competitive place
to live, visit and do business — we need to manage our city’s
finances wisely and also find ways to expand our tax base so
that existing residents and small businesses bear less of the burden of supporting essential city services.

MAKE SMART INVESTMENTS TO INCREASE OUR CITY’S DESIRABILITY AS A PLACE TO LIVE, WORK & VISIT

Our city’s reputation as a beautiful, historical and safe
community with excellent educational and cultural opportunities can be built upon. I want to work towards a more pedestrian- friendly city connected by better sidewalks and bike paths. I
will support necessary infrastructure investments to improve
our roads and preserve our water quality. I want our community to foster recreational activities for all ages.

BROADEN REPRESENTATION ON CITY COUNCIL

West Lexington (my neighborhood!) has traditionally
been under-represented in local government. My neighbors
near Lime Kiln, in Fairwinds, along Borden Rd as well as
residents in other under-represented boundary neighborhoods across Lexington deserve a voice on city council too. I’d like
to be that voice.
